Heckfield Place as a Country Haven

As Covid continues to challenge and lob more curve balls at us, we have taken the collective decision to gently reintroduce certain considered measures to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests and teams while here at Heckfield Place.

Our teams have returned to wearing their masks in public spaces of the House, and we request our guests also do so per government guidance. We are also taking regular lateral flow tests, and request you do the same on the morning of your arrival at Heckfield.

    • Our temperature scanner will remain in the Hall and we kindly request that you measure your temperature on arrival. Our teams will continue to monitor theirs on arrival into the building.

    • Our beautiful fragrant Wildsmith hand sanitiser will be dotted around the house for guests and teams to use as needed.

    • Valet parking is available for those who would like it. Please come to the front door, where your luggage will be unloaded and our Porter drivers will take your vehicle to safely park in the Woodland carpark. For those who wish to keep their cars in a safe space, we will assist with luggage from and to the Woodland car park.

    • Our arrival and departure times are at 4.00 pm for check-in, with check out at 11.00 am. This will allow our Housekeeping team the time to ensure that your room has been fully sanitised.

    • You are welcome to arrive earlier to enjoy the grounds, have lunch and make yourself at home in our beautiful House and we will do our very best to get the room to you earlier, but please bear with us.

    • We will contact you to reserve a time for your arrival to avoid crowds in the front Hall, and encourage you to reserve your dining, spa and activities well in advance to avoid disappointment at these busy times.
    • Additionally, we invite you to check-in and check-out online for a quick and easy arrival and departure. Our team will send you the link to do so shortly before your stay.

    • We will continue to sanitise all guest rooms with the Ramsol (

    • If you would prefer your room to remain a haven with no intrusion, we can agree to no Housekeeping service during your stay, only leaving items requested at your door - or just once a day by our Housekeeping team, working diligently to ensure the safety of all.
    • Wellies have returned to our Boot Room – perfect for roaming our Grounds and exploring our estate during the colder and wetter months. But also feel free to bring your own if that feels safer.

    • Currently, there are no restrictions on maximum table numbers, and our capacity has returned to normal levels. As with everything at Heckfield, our restaurants are generous on space. We are still utilizing QR codes for most of our menus, as this has greatly decreased our paper usage and our impact on the environment. Paper menus are still available if you prefer.
    • The Spa will continue with all treatments with practitioners following Covid measures such as sanitizing and wearing PPE. The Gym in the Keepers Cottage will remain open, although pre-booking is required for use of the Gym and for Personal Training. Outdoor exercising is encouraged wherever possible.

    • We are gently managing the total number of guests in the spacious and well-ventilated Screening Room to allow for as much elbow room as possible, where possible. Our team will return to wearing their masks, and we kindly recommend that our guests who are comfortable do the same.

    • Assembly events have returned with small groups for our talks, walks, workshops, demos and hands-on classes, in the outdoors as much as possible.
