November 11 2026: Introduction to Breadmaking

Explore the science and history behind bread making in this workshop which is equal parts practical demonstration, participation and tasting.

Join our expert bakers to explore the fascinating history of grains, as well as the science of different flours, plus techniques such as sifting and kneading. You will learn how to make Heckfield’s unique flatbreads and bake them in the wood fired ovens of our Hearth restaurant.

The 1.5-hour workshop will also include a tasting of some of Heckfield’s freshly baked breads, plus information on the secrets of the perfect sourdough ‘mother’. Taking away your own sourdough starter, you'll be able to start putting what you’ve learned into practice as soon as you get home.
