A gift to the land. This tree offers shelter and sustenance to the birdlife on the Heckfield Estate at the most vulnerable point of the year.

A gift to one another. New treats will be added to The Taking Tree every day. Come back to see what’s ready to share.
THE SCENT TREE
A gift to the self. A tree infused with the scents of the season. A chance to pause and immerse in a restful sensory journey.
THE HIDDEN TREE
A gift of discovery. Hidden in the gently wild landscape of the Heckfield Estate, this tree is about playful twilight exploration.
THE LIGHT TREE
A gift of intention. Shining during the darkest point of the year, this tree hints at future paths. As one year ends, look forward to its imminent turning.

Heckfield florist Catherine, who created The Light Tree and the other installations found throughout the House, will be sharing her expert secrets as you make a festive wreath using greenery foraged from the Estate.

Raise a glass to the season with three signature cocktails featuring some of its most iconic flavours. James, our bar manager, will show you how to mix a perfect champagne cocktail, reviving spiced daiquiri and warming sloe negroni.

Follow the light through the House this New Year’s Eve as music, cocktails and conversation unfold over a series of intimate spaces, each offering its own atmosphere.
The evening will start with a drinks reception and live music before gathering for a celebratory supper at shared tables in Marle. -
Across six courses, some of the season’s most prized ingredients will be showcased including caviar, white truffle and fillet of beef.
Taking inspiration from The Light Tree, a series of thoughtful rituals will unfold throughout the nigh, inviting you to pause as darkness falls on one year and light begins to shine on the next. Reflect. Envision what might unfold.
Then gather once more to celebrate the turn of the year as the night culminates with more live music, champagne. And the promise of new beginnings.
