Autumn watercolour class with Mary Ellen Taylor+lunch
Celebrate the late summer and early autumn colours of rudbeckia, dahlias, blushing leaves, fruits and seedpods in watercolour.
Reconnect with nature to create a lovely sketchbook-style page with the help of renown botanical artist Mary Ellen Taylor.
Venturing away from the Chelsea Physic Garden to the bountiful and beautiful gardens of Heckfield, Mary Ellen will assist artists to capture the moment in a botanical way. All abilities welcome.
The tickets include a two-course set menu lunch (please note description below: beverages and service excluded). For any dietary requirements, please email email@example.com.
Hygienic painting and drawing material provided for each artist, but you may like to bring a small sketch book (A4 or A5 cartridge paper is fine), your favourite watercolour brushes or a handheld magnifying glass.
Mary Ellen’s love of flora and fauna began in the Galapagos Islands and Andes where she lived for two decades before settling into the Chelsea Physic Garden to study botanical painting, where she is still based. She was Diploma Course Director for both The English Gardening School and Chelsea School of Botanical Art and continues to teach - her work has been published, sold internationally and selected for inclusion in the Transylvania Florilegium being created under the umbrella of the Prince of Wales’s Foundation Romania.
Please note that it rains occasionally in Hampshire and we suggest bringing coats and suitable footwear for any estate walk.
Children 12 and over must be accompanied by an adult/parent/guardian.
Bound by the rhythm of the seasons, our restaurants are fuelled by the biodynamic Market Garden and organic Home Farm. From gluts to unloved bits like beetroot tops, we hope not to waste an ounce of produce.
This set lunch menu – echoing our Culinary Director Skye Gyngell’s ground-breaking Scratch menu at Spring in London – features elegantly simple, delicious food using ingredients that otherwise might have been overlooked.
Being inspired by what we have to hand means we cannot alter the set menu on the day.
