Kitchen Full time

Heckfield Place is a beautifully restored hotel on a 400-acre farm in the county of Hampshire, just outside of London. The kitchen sources some of its produce from our biodynamic market garden on site, and chefs take regular tours of the farm to draw inspiration from what they see growing.  

The kitchen is currently looking for a Baker to join our dynamic pastry team.

We make all our breads and pastries in-house daily, which include naturally leavened sourdough and rye breads, morning pastries, and cakes for afternoon tea.

Our pastry team works closely with Heckfield Farm to showcase the fruits, flowers, and fragrant leaves from our market garden, and our paired back approach to afternoon tea allows us to serve simple, flavourful cakes, which are made fresh daily. The ideal person will have a passion for working seasonally and be open to learning new styles and techniques. At Heckfield we pride ourselves on providing training, development, and a chance to progress within the company.


  • Experience in working with long fermentation breads and sourdough products.
  • Experience working with different whole grains (preferably from small UK millers and farmers.)
  • The ability to work efficiently and carefully to maintain the high quality and consistency required in our kitchen.
  • To work with the executive chef as well as the pastry development chef to expand the bread and pastry program
  • Produce all daily bread and pastry requirements
  • Willingness to learn as well as a desire to teach the other team members
